: Hi Glen, the measurements are taken outside lip to outside lip on the top of the bath. The markings are usually on the bottom of the bath. Sometimes they are easier to make out than other times. Usually the date, Lot #'s or foundry and manufacturer can be found there, not always though.

Couple more questions: What does a "typical" tub weigh and is one cast before 1920 more valuable than one mfr'd. from 1920-1940?
