: : : Where is the measurement taken to determine the correct length of a claw foot tub and also where are the manufactuer's marks or stampings located
: : : Thanks,

: : Hi Glen, the measurements are taken outside lip to outside lip on the top of the bath. The markings are usually on the bottom of the bath. Sometimes they are easier to make out than other times. Usually the date, Lot #'s or foundry and manufacturer can be found there, not always though.
: : Thanks for the question

: THanks, Pat.
: Couple more questions: What does a "typical" tub weigh and is one cast before 1920 more valuable than one mfr'd. from 1920-1940?

Hi, Glen
A typical clawfoot weighs between 250 to 350 pounds depending on size. Value is still determined by local markets check the resellers in the area where you have the bath that will give you an idea of the value in that area.
